Does Too Much Vitamin C Cause Acne

Vitamin C is a staple in many skincare routines for good reason. Being a potent antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, it fends off daily aggressors that wreak havoc on your skin such as UV damage and exposure to pollutants. Making a place for vitamin C in your routine can guarantee a smoother, brighter and glowing complexion. But how do we know when we're using too much?

Our favourite line Vivier®, offers some of the most powerful vitamin C serums on the market. They are formulated using the purest form of vitamin C available, L-Ascorbic Acid USP. It is the gold standard that is recognized for its purity, quality, strength and consistency. Vivier's serums are patented and use their proprietary Intra-Dermal System® (IDS) to deliver vitamin C and other potent ingredients into the layers of the skin where they are needed the most. Their serums have also been clinically trialed and proven to create a "reservoir-effect" in the skin. This means that if you have applied your serum in the morning and wash your face a few hours later, the ingredients have not washed off as they have penetrated into the skin. So, there is no need to reapply your vitamin c serum after your mid-day workout! When applying vitamin C serums, your skin can be thought of like a sponge. It can only hold so much of an ingredient before it cannot absorb anymore.

A tell-tale sign of vitamin c over-use can be increased blackheads or a development of blackheads. General skin irritation and breakouts can also occur if you are using your vitamin c too much or too often. We recommend using your serum 1-2 times a day and 2-4 drops is all that is needed.
